Kreg's zinc screws are the standard choice for pocket hole joints in indoor furniture. They are made from case hardened steel for durablility and strength. The screw tips are sharp and self-tapping so they can drive into wood without a pilot hole. The underside of the head is flat so it mates perfectly with the base of the pocket hole - unlike drywall screws.
Maxi-Loc & Pan Heads
Screw Types
Kreg's screws come in two head styles: Maxi-Loc and Pan Head. Maxi-Loc screws are Kreg's washer-head design. It gives the broadest bearing area and the surest hold. Pan head screws have a slightly smaller head, without the built-in washer. They are used for joints in thinner stock and very hard woods.
Coarse thread Kreg screws have deep threads that cut into softwoods and sheet goods for maximum grip. They should be used in basswood, spruce, fir, cedar, pine, MDF, plywood & particle board.
Fine thread Kreg screws are smaller so they can drive into hard woods without splitting, but they have more threads per inch to insure sufficient hold. They should be used in mahogany, cherry, maple, poplar, birch, ash, oak & hickory.
Kreg offers screws in six lengths from 3/4" to 2-1/2". See the chart below for help selecting the correct length for your application.
Kreg screws have self-tapping tips so they drive easily and without splitting. They use square drive for positive connection and easy driving. These screws use # 2 square drivers .
