Oneway Live Center Adapter

Oneway's Live Center Adapter is the central component a system to precisely center a bowl for hollowing. It is used in combination with the Oneway Live Center , your chuck, faceplate and lathe.

How does the system work?

The Live Center Adapter is threaded to screw onto your Oneway Live Center, adapting the live center to have the same thread as your lathe spindle. Here's how you use that for precise centering:

  1. Mount your bowl blank to a faceplate.
  2. Turn the outside of the bowl, including the foot or tenon for chucking.
  3. Using the Live Center adapter, attach a chuck or faceplate to the Live Center.
  4. Move the tailstock (with the Live Center/chuck assembly attached) up to the bowl and grab the foot or tenon on the bowl while it is still attached to the faceplate and lathe.
  5. Remove the faceplate, bowl blank and chuck from the lathe.
  6. Remove the faceplate from the bowl blank.

The bowl is now precisely centered in the chuck. You can screw the chuck onto the lathe spindle and hollow or core the inside.

You can now screw the chuck onto the headstock, and your bowl will be precisely centered and ready to be hollowed out or cored.
