Oneway Thread-Lok Ferrule
Oneway Thread-Lok Ferrules securely attach your custom handle designs to turning gouges, so that either can be easily removed. You can see the advantage of these ferrules if you own a double-ended gouge, or if your handle gets in the way when sharpening. Made from anodized, solid aluminum, they come with a tapered internal thread that screws onto your specially made handle. Should it loosen over time, a twist of the wrist firmly seats the handle into the socket once again. A setscrew holds the gouge, so you can adjust the length of the tool for balance. Sure beats a hacked off piece of copper pipe.
They readily fit Mastercut Gouges from Oneway, or other round gouges that closely match the listed openings of the ferrules. So the listed opening of the ferrules of 1/4 inch, 3/8 inch, 1/2 inch, and 5/8 inch, will relate to the outside diameter of the tool shank you are wanting to accommodate. The drilled opening in the ferrule is about 1/64 inch larger than the listed size. Not for use with forged, Continental or flat sectioned gouges.
Inexpensive, steel templates are sold separately, so you can accurately check the taper on your handles as you machine them to fit the ferrules. Thread-Lok templates are available individually or as a package of all four.
