A piece of spring steel for the cutter (the scratch) and a block of wood (the stock) and you have yourself a centuries old tool that is relevant and very useful for today's fine woodworker. Electric routers have their place, but a Scratch Stock can create an elegant bead or a groove for inlay, efficiently and quietly, in the time it can take to dig through your drawer of router bits and collets.
Hock's Scratch Stock comes with two cutters that measure 3/4" x 1-3/4". One cutter comes with a 3/16" quirk-bead formed on one edge. The cutters fit into the 2" x 4-3/4" bamboo wood holder that serves as a fence to guide the cutter as it cuts and has a radius on one end for use on inside curves. The included instructions tell you how to sharpen the cutters and file your own custom profiles.
