A Museum Of Early American Tools. Author, Eric Sloane

A Museum of Early American Tools describes, in detail, farm tools and kitchen implements and how they were made; it covers tools used by individuals involved in all types of work and labor. Included are: curriers, wheelwrights, coopers, blacksmiths, loggers, tanners, coachmakers, and other craftsmen of that time. This fascinating window into the past is a great resource, as well as an enjoyable read, for the history buff, tool collector and those with a general interest in Americana.

A Museum Of Early American Tools is illustrated with over 180 pen and ink sketches, having been carefully researched by the author, who was an avid tool collector. Along with the tool descriptions, items made by them are also shown.

Eric Sloane (1905-1985) was an American painter who had a keen interest in early American life in the Colonial era. He wrote many books on the subject, each with detailed illustrations and hand lettering, accompanied by his wit and folksy observations. Other Eric Sloane titles available at Highland Woodworking are A Reverence for Wood (202694) and The Tools That Built America (205628).
