Detailed Description
ECE Jack Plane ECE hand planes combine Emmerich's meticulous quality with the economy of traditional hammer-set irons secured with wooden wedges. Heavy irons are solidly bedded for smooth, clean performance. Bodies are dense European beech and soles are long-wearing hornbeam. As in all Emmerich planes, the workmanship is simply outstanding.
At 9-7/16" long this jack plane could pass as a largish smooth plane. The body is 2-9/16" wide; the iron is 1-7/8" wide and has a metal chip breaker (referred to also as a double iron). This style of plane is narrow enough for vigorous roughing as well as smooth finishing.
