Gränsfors Bruk first-class full size axe for felling trees and sectioning logs is based on a classic Colonial American pattern. It is ideal for felling very large trees, thanks to its long, broad edge of 11.5cm (~4-1/2"). The axe is forged to a curved bit, making it suitable for cutting into fresh wood. The heavy head and long handle also give considerable power to the cut.

The Swedes are the world's greatest axe enthusiasts, and Gränsfors Bruk is one of their finest forges. Each axe is carefully forged by an experienced smith who shows his pride in his work by stamping his initials on the head next to the company logo, and each smith is introduced in the booklet that accompanies every Gränsfors Bruk axe. After forging, each blade is ground to a 25° bevel and honed to a razor edge, so handle with care!

Each axe is fitted with a tight-grained hickory handle and provided with a grain-leather sheath with snap fastener.

The American Felling Axe is available in three handle configurations

  • 31" Curved Handle - Model 434-1 This has the standard curved-style handle made of American hickory. Overall length of the axe is 81cm (31"). Total weight is about 2.1kg (4.6lbs)
  • 35" Curved Handle - Model 434-2 This has the standard curved-style handle made of American hickory. Overall length of the axe is 90cm (35"). Total weight is about 2.2kg (4.8lbs)
  • 31" Straight Handle - Model 434-3 This has a straight handle made of American hickory. Overall length of the axe is 81cm (31"). Total weight is about 2.1kg (4.6lbs)
