Detailed Description
Lie-Nielsen Low Angle Jack Plane No. 62
Lie Nielsen's Low Angle Jack Plane is based on the Stanley 62. With its 14"
long cast ductile iron body and heavy 2" wide by 3/16" thick iron
bedded (bevel up) at just 12°;, this plane's low cutting angle (~37°)
lets it slice wood fibers without effort, especially on end grain.
An adjustable sole plate allows fine-tuning the throat opening to nearly eliminate
tear out when planing surface grain. Bronze cap iron & cherry handles
complete the package. There are three types of irons available (one
standard iron comes with the plane), the standard iron with a 25° bevel,
toothing iron
and the scraping iron.
You can also grind a steeper angle (33° to 38°) on another standard
blade to have a cutting action more like a smoothing plane.
Blade Width is 2". Overall Length of sole is 14". Width of sole is 2-1/2".
Weight: 4.55 lbs. Made in the U.S.A.
