Shaper Origin Handheld CNC Router

Shaper Origin is a tool like you've never seen. It performs many of the tasks of an ordinary router, but with more precision. It performs many of the tasks of a CNC router, but easier and with fewer restrictions. Origin locates itself in your workspace and makes continuous adjustments while cutting so you get the best result possible. Once you set up, select or upload your pattern, route following the path displayed on the screen. Origin will adjust to keep the cut in the right place. If you veer off too far, it will automatically raise the cutter out of the workpiece.

Origin doesn't require a computer to run. You can design on-tool or transfer design files from the ShaperHub online library. If you prefer to make detailed designs on your computer, Origin can handle that, too. Origin's control unit has a capactive full color touch screen and WiFi to transfer design files and softare updates. No WiFi? You can load design files through the USB port. Origin uses standard vector files (.SVG).

The Shaper SM-1 Spindle Motor was designed in cooperation with Festool, who makes it to their usual high standards. It has load-compensating speed control, soft start and safety cutoff for overload and overheating.

Origin's dust port accepts standard 27mm & 36mm dust hoses (like Fein & Festool).

The Shaper Origin comes with everything you need to get started right out of the box: the three most popular cutters, two rolls of ShaperTape and all required accessories. Everything is stored in a custom Tanos T-Loc Systainer 5.

When using the Shaper Origin, many projects will require the use of double stick tape to hold you workpiece in place. We've been carrying the tape that Shaper recommends for years. It's strong enough to hold turning projects on the lathe so it should hold your Shaper projects securely. We suggest that you order the 1-1/2" or 3" tape. The last thing you want is your workpeice coming loose while you're routing.
