A Two Minute Safety Tip

Anytime I turn on one of my machines, I think to myself: Given half a chance, this machine WILL try to hurt me!

If the blade is spinning I ALWAYS keep at least one eye on that blade no matter what else I'm trying to do. That eye will see my fingers, arm, whatever, moving towards the danger zone allowing me enough wiggle room to make any necessary adjustments. This has worked for me for more than 20 years of professional furniture making and I can still count to ten.

That was Rule #1. Rule #2 is don't get complacent, nothing is fail safe.
