A Two Minute Safety Tip

While working in the shop one day I discovered that I failed to run one 6 inch piece through the router table while it was set up for those pieces.I figured it was ONLY one little piece so why waste 2 whole minutes to reset the router table. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!!! I now sport a newly-acquired 3 sided scar on the top half inch of my left hand ring finger.

People, please, take whatever time that's needed to set up and operate your tools safely. The 2 minutes I tried to save ended up costing me a whole bunch more time than what it would have taken to set up the router table 20 times. PLEASE WORK SAFELY. IT DOESN’T HURT AS MUCH OR TAKE AS LONG.

Do you have a safety tip you always keep in mind when you are in the shop?

if we feature your tip in a future issue.
