Honest Labour - The Charles H. Hayward Years.
Honest Labour is a collection of essays from The Woodworker magazine while the legendary Charles H. Hayward was editor (1936-1966). This book is the fifth and final volume in the Lost Art Press series The Woodworker .
The material for Honest Labour is pulled from the column "Chips From the Chisel" which appeared in each issue of The Woodworker magazine. These columns are not just ordinary musings. They are filled with poetry, historical characters, and observations on nature. They still speak to the modern woodworker and the significance of our endeavors.Lost Art Press decided to organize the essays year by year. For context, there is a short column for every chapter that lists the major news events of that year.
At 474 pages, Honest Labour - The Charles H. Hayward Years is the largest book in "The Woodworker" series and is also produced and printed entirely in the United States. It is printed on smooth acid-free #60 paper and joined with a tough binding that is sewn, affixed with fiber tape, and then glued. The pages are covered in dense hardbound covers that are wrapped with cotton cloth.
