iGaging Layout Squares - 7 & 12 Inch
Each of these squares are laser cut from a single piece of solid aluminum on state-of-the-art CNC equipment. The single-piece construction and manufacturing process ensures that the squares are accurate within two-thousandth of an inch along the tool's full length. The precision-machined aluminum handle is perfectly aligned with the blade. The thin 2mm blade has engraved 1/16" and 1/32" markings on both sides and four edges and a blue anodized finish.
The 7" square has a 7" outside and 6" inside scale plus a 3" scale and a 1-1/4" end scale on the handle. The large 12" square features a 12" outside and 11" inside scale and with a 5" scale along the handle's length plus a 1-3/8" end scale.
The iGaging Layout Squares include miter angles from 5-degrees to 60-degrees in 5-degree increments (plus 22.5 degrees) measured from the corner of the handle to the markings on the blade. A 45-degree cut-out in the handle also enables the quick layout of 45-degree angles.
One of the great features are the small holes along the blade's length. These holes are for drawing parallel lines to an edge with a mechanical pencil. The holes are marked and arranged in two rows, the top row in 1/16" increments and the bottom in 1/8" increments. There is a center finding rule on the top of the blade and the anodized aluminum handle has 1/4" and 3/8" offsets making it very useful for the layout of tenons, dowels, and other joinery.
The sturdy aluminum handle design allows the square to stand upright on its own. The two rare earth magnets in the base help to secure the base to cast iron surfaces.
