Nicholson Tapered Magicut Files

Here's a perfect example of why its so great to look over the machinists shoulders for tools to borrow. Magicut files remove stock quickly like a double cut file, but leave a smooth surface like a single cut. "Magicut" refers to a complex pattern of steep angled serrations separated by narrow chip breakers. Altering your angle of attack can actually control the aggressiveness of the cutting action, and the smoothness of the surface you leave behind. Magicut files are great for easing the sharp corners of high-pressure laminate, tuning card scrapers, and tool shaping prior to heat treating; they also do a great job on hardwoods.
