Shapton Kuromaku waterstones are unlike our other waterstones. No soaking is required! Simply splash the stone surface with some water and get sharpening. These stones are hard wearing for long life and fast-cutting so you can sharpen quickly. Precisely-graded ceramic abrasives allow Shapton to offer a wide range of grits. We think that you will find these excellent stones to be an outstanding addition to your sharpening toolbox.

Grits
- 120 grit (White) - Coarse for re-shaping the edge and removing nicks
- 220 grit (Moss) - Medium coarse for sharpening very dull blades and removing nicks
- 320 grit (Blue-black) - Roughing stone for sharpening very dull blades
- 1,000 grit (Orange) - Medium for fast sharpening
- 1,500 grit (Blue) - Medium fine for fine sharpening
- 2,000 grit (Green) - Medium fine for fine sharpening
- 5,000 grit (Wine) - Fine for removing burrs after sharpening
- 8,000 grit (Melon) - Very fine for removing burrs after sharpening
- 12,000 grit (Yellow) - Super fine for removing burrs after sharpening
- 30,000 grit (Purple) - Extremely fine for polishing
Additional Information
Shapton does recommend soaking the stones for 5-6 minutes the first time you use them. The stones should not EVER be soaked for more than 30 minutes.
