Class Details
Class Description

This is a great class for both beginning and intermediate woodturners! In this class you will be introduced to wood lathe safety, proper turning techniques, and the safe use of woodturning tools as you create a collection of beautiful handcrafted Christmas ornaments.

Char will guide you through the entire turning process—from mounting a blank on the lathe to shaping clean curves, cutting beads and coves, refining details, and sanding for a silky-smooth finish. Along the way, you’ll learn proper tool presentation, body positioning, grain orientation, and techniques that will help you turn with confidence and control.

Beyond just making ornaments, you’ll gain a solid understanding of the fundamentals of spindle turning, allowing you to continue creating ornaments, finials, handles, bottle stoppers, and countless other projects long after class is over. You’ll also learn how to apply a beautiful finish that enhances the natural beauty of the wood and leaves your ornaments ready to hang on the tree or give as meaningful handmade gifts.

This class will provide you with the confidence and foundational skills to begin your woodturning journey in a safe, supportive, and fun environment.
