Tongue and Groove joints are great for joining panels or boards along the long grain. they are strong, self-aligning joints that allow for seasonal wood movement with appropriate gluing.

We offer four options from Whiteside for forming Tongue and Groove joints with your router.

Straight Tongue and Groove Bit Set
This set makes the Tongue and Groove joint in its simplest form. Both sides of the joint are straight and square. Each side is formed with its own bit. This set works best when used in a router table with the fence in line with the bearing.
Wedge Tongue and Groove Bit Set
This set is for joints that are glued along the length. The wedge shape of the tongue increases the glue surface - adding to the strength of the joint. This set should only be used in a router table.
Vee Panel Tongue and Groove Bit Set
This set makes tongue and groove joint with a decorative V groove along the length of the joint. It is typically used in tongue and groove paneling or ceilings. This set should only be used in a router table with the fence in line with the bearing.
Tongue and Groove Assembly Bit
This is the most economical way to make tongue and groove joints. The single bit is used to make both sides of the joint - requiring only a depth adjustment to switch from the tongue cut to the groove cut . This set should only be used in a router table with the fence in line with the bearing.

About Whiteside

Whiteside Machine Company was founded in 1970 in Bill Whiteside's basement where he supplied tooling to NC's huge furniture making industry. Whiteside is still family-owned but has now grown to occupy a 40,000 square foot factory in Claremont, NC.

Whiteside offers a full range of router bits. Their rigid quality control and precision manufacturing techniques have repeatedly resulted in highest ratings in Fine Woodworking magazine tool reviews.

In the years that we've sold Whiteside router bits, we've experienced the company's commitment to excellent quality and superb customer service. We think you'll be pleased each time you use these fine tools in your shop.

We toured the Whiteside factory in Episode 1 of The Highland Woodworker . Watch the whole episode or just the factory tour (about 6:30).
