Introduction to Chip Carving
Introduction to Chip Carving Class May 17

Chip carving is a form of relief carving in which the carver removes precise chips from the surface of the wood with a small extremely sharp knife. Atlanta's very own award winning chip carver, Mickey Hudspeth will demonstrate what chip carving is, the safety issues involved and demonstrate various types of cuts including cutting triangles, canoe shaped chips, rosettes and drawing and carving freehand. Then each student will practice under Mickey's supervision by chip carving on practice boards.

Lie-Nielsen No. 60-1/2RN Low Angle Rabbet Block Plane with Nicker
Many woodworkers ask for advice on which of our many block planes they should buy. Often the concern is that the plane they choose needs to provide a great deal of functionality, as it may be the only plane they purchase. With that in mind, I often suggest our Low Angle Rabbet Block Plane.

Micro Jig GRR-Ripper
Advanced GR-200 System

By Jeffrey Fleisher, New Market, VA

The GRR-ripper 3-D Push Block System by MicroJig was designed for both safety and performance from the ground up. In 20-plus years of woodworking, I have used all types of store bought and shop made push sticks, push blocks, feather boards, safety guards and thin-strip cutting jigs and fixtures. The GRR-ripper push block system packages all of these functions in a very safe and well-designed tool.

BOOK REVIEW:
To Make as Perfectly
as Possible
by Andre Jacob Roubo

To Make as Perfectly as Possible Reviewed by
J. Norman Reid,
Delaplane, Virginia

In the 1760s, André-Jacob Roubo was commissioned by the French Royal Academy to write a treatise on furnituremaking practice. The result was a massive masterwork that described in great detail the methods of French woodworking artisans in pursuit of their highest art and craft. Though Roubo wrote two and a half centuries ago, his advice is timeless.

WOOD SLICER Testimonial

Wood Slicer resawing blade I've been using the Wood Slicer for a few years, and of course it's awesome. I also bought your Woodturners Bandsaw Blade. It cut through dried walnut like butter. I haven't tried it on green wood yet, but I will soon. I have some green walnut that I need to turn into bowl blanks. Can't wait to see how it works! – Larry
