Kreg will use a range of tools in the class, but his focus will be on pocket hole joinery and hand power tools, with an approach that you don't need an entire woodshop to create nice built-ins for your home. Though it's a demonstration seminar, there will be plenty times during the day for lending a participatory hand. So come with paper, pencil and a digital camera and get ready to soak up a heap of built-in building know-how.

Our April Lie-Nielsen Tool of the Month:
Lie-Nielsen 102 Low-Angle Block Plane
Lie-Nielsen #102 Low-Angle Block Plane

The Low-Angle Block Plane was originally designed for endgrain work, so it is no surprise that the Lie-Nielsen No. 102 is exceptional at working on endgrain. The small format of the No. 102 is also good for touching up a small isolated spot, even if the surface isn’t completely flat, as the length and width of the plane body can sometimes allow access that other planes could not reach. Lee Laird goes into further details about the design and use of the Lie-Nielsen #102 Low-Angle Block Plane in The Highland Blog .

Resharpen Rip Teeth
Resharpen a Japanese Ryoba’s Rip Teeth

By Lee Laird
Kankakee, Illinois

The Ryoba is a saw that has rip teeth on one side of the saw-plate and cross-cut teeth on the opposite side. Since there is no stiffener or back on the saw plate, like you would see on a Western back saw or a dozuki, the saw can cut as deep as you need, or that it can reach. In this article, Lee Laird goes over some tips and techniques for sharpening this particular Japanese saw.
